After two wonderfully successful years, Un-Scripted Theater Company® is proud to present the third annual West Coast Musical Improv Festival! From July 19th-22nd, the Bay Area will be host to 13 of the best musical improv acts from around the country. Among others, we’ll be featuring national acts like hip-hop troupe A Tribe Called Yes (Seattle), improv karaoke band Surprise Inside (LA), post-apocalyptic Dystopia! The Musical! (Seattle), and a cappella improvisors Pitch, Please (LA). We’ll also feature SF-based favorites like Anthony Veneziale and Vivek Venugopal in American Immigrants, improvised opera with Operavised, 1940s jazz players All That Jazz!, and -- for the very first time -- a musical version of the acclaimed show Speechless! In addition to exciting shows, the West Coast Musical Improv Festival will be holding musical improv workshops for performers and enthusiasts at all levels, in a variety of genres, from extreme beginner to seasoned pro.
Friday 9pm show lineup:
American Immigrants
American Immigrants is an improvised musical evening featuring two improvisers, two guitars and infinite possibilities. American Immigrants takes an audience suggestion and spins it into a brand new song on the spot, then creates scenes based off of that song. It's long form improvisation with guitars.
The Kickapoo Community Players
Every summer, the Kickapoo Community Players present the Outdoor Summer Musical Series in the Estelle Getty Memorial Theater. For over 40 years, we have performed everything from Oklahoma to Oh Calcutta! Then, last year, we tried something different. We wrote and performed our own original musical.
It was an overwhelming success and now, we have traveled all the way to San Francisco in order to pitch our show to you, our investors. With your help and support, we can take our production all the way.... to Broadway.
