Anthony Veneziale and Vivek Venugopal created the show American Immigrants because for some reason after the election of 2016 there seemed to be a resurgence in the use of the word “immigrant” as a pejorative. Vivek is an immigrant to the United States and Anthony is a second generation Italian American, and we felt the need to reclaim the words “American Immigrant.” This fully improvised show asks the audience questions about their families’ immigrant story and then creates an original song and scenes based on those answers. The show has been performed in San Francisco and New York over the past eight years and we are currently in production on a podcast version with Audible which will be available later this year.
